Album review: CURE FOR GRAVITY – s/t

[Release date 14.10.16] http://www.cureforgravity.net

California-based trio Cure For Gravity describe their influences as traditional prog (Genesis, King Crimson) prog with a more experimental edge (Radiohead, God Is An Astronaut) This should give you an idea of the band’s musical range which is always grounded in memorable tunesmithery.

Opener ‘Tonight’ might even evoke Marillion, whilst ‘Sunspots’ with its sparse and ethereal  guitar motif is also a good vehicle for Joe Markert’s vocals.

‘Just Like Candy’ has become a  favourite on Get Ready to ROCK! Radio and perfectly sums up the band’s musicality and with an unexpected upbeat playout.

‘Black Metal’ and ‘Push’ further consolidate this excellent debut whilst album closer – ‘Killing For The Queen’ – reinforces the band’s anthemic credentials.  Cure For Gravity is a difficult band to pigeon hole but if you like intelligent, modern progressive rock this is a band that will certainly keep you elevated.
