Keys and Chords Review: Jordan Hurwitz “LOVESICK.”

4 Jan

The American singer-songwriter Jordan Hurwitz was born and grew up in Redwood City, California. She was influenced by, inter alia, Billy Joel, Sara Bareilles, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Demi Lovato, and Kelly Clarkson. At sixteen she released her debut album with original songs, and has not stopped. Her fourth release while her second EP is out now, again along with Narada Michael Walden, you of course know Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, etc. Six new original songs on it, for which she wrote the lyrics and music. “As I grow as a person and an artist, my music grows with me.” She said. “The One Thing That stays consistent is this: my lyrics come straight from my heart. This set of six songs focus on emotions and experiences that i have been through during this year fits. Each and every day I am amazed at the power writing HAS in finding resolution and optimism in any event or feeling experienced by an individual. My experiences have led me to new ballads, dance music, a lot of vulnerability, a little sass, and above anything, GROOVE! Please enjoy this new set of tunes that i am so humbled and thrilled to share. “Jordan opens with the pop song” I Love Your Abs, “with slightly jazzy slant. Then comes the ballad ‘Power’, and ‘Riverbank’ some R & B in it. The first single ‘Obliterate My Heart’ is a duet with Cornell Carter, followed by the ballad ‘Hurricane’. The closing and title track is more dance, and suitable for today’s radio.
