HAJI MIKE Drops New Single “The Wild” on Blind Dog Records

“The Wild” is the latest groovy spoken word single from Haji Mike, the veteran poet and DJ based in Cyprus – whose latest projects include collaborations with Chaka Chouka and Dr Chrispy.

Imagine a world without toxic goods and thoughts, where people live in the wild, happy and free. This utopia is what the song is about, a desire to get away from the madness of urban/city/online life and go back to a rootsier tranquil way of living.

Musically its a collaboration with a number of gifted artists online. Soufiane Gaga based in the Canary islands produced the beat, laying the foundation for the groove. Gaga and Haji Mike collaborated before on the ‘Roots & Branches’ Project (2010). Electric Piano and keyboard atmospherics created by Boleslaw “Bolo” Gryczynski, at Blind Dog Media Studios. Bernard O’Neill (Syriana, Dub Colosssus) added a nice groovalicious bass line.

The song was produced by Haji Mike and Soufiane Gaga at G-Prod & Blind Dog Media Studios. It’s the 1st song of a new spoken word EP by Haji Mike called ‘Goodies from my Yiayia’s freezan…’ coming out later in 2021.

‘The Wild’ is available on all major digital download platforms June 30.

Dr Chrispy has dropped a music video for TRANSITORY EVENING (AFRO TRAVEL), the standout track from his recent TRANSITORY EP, featuring Haji Mike. The video is an eye-popping and surreal journey through the mind and into outer space, taking the sample-heavy and synth-driven dance track to a whole other level.

Dr Chrispy – Transitory Evening (Afro Travel) feat. Haji Mike:

Directed by Dr Chrispy.

Written by Dr Chrispy and Haji Mike.

Camera by Gavin Murray (https://gavinvmurray.com), Bolweslaw “Bolo” Gryczynski, Dima Ani and Dimi Morozov (Blind Dog Studio).

Editing and post-production by Gus O’Brien Cavanough.

Transitory “iris” concept, artwork and animation by Drew Mcgaraghan. Space animation by Dr Chrispy and Gus O’Brien Cavanough.

Shot on location in Cyprus and California. Thank you to Sia Municipality, Cyprus, for their support filming this video.

With special thanks to Rajesh Vs (https://youtube.com/c/LazyElectrons), Darryl Thoms, Drew Mcgaraghan, Vanessa Zhang and Shaun Meehan.

Shot on location in a secret lab in San Francisco and at Sia lake in Cyprus, the video connects the two places through the song’s theme of astral projection and out-of-body experiences, or, as the long time Cypriot reggae master and dub poet Haji Mike likes to call it, “Afro Travel”. In the video we see Dr Chrispy receive a strange signal on the screens of a wall of vintage oscilloscopes (the real life Dr Chrispy is bona fide Aerospace Engineer, having co-founded his own space company, Planet Labs). Before long, the signal is revealed to be coming from Haji Mike, who is manipulating the celestial airwaves with his dub poetry. Realizing he can communicate back to Haji Mike with a beat, Dr Chrispy is suddenly pulled through a wormhole shaped like a giant iris, travelling to the edges of the galaxy and back before he is ultimately trapped in the “other world”, while Haji Mike cooly rocks out on the mic to the sublime beat of the song.

The ambitious music video was conceived of, and created by, Dr Chrispy and Haji Mike themselves, with editing assistance by Sydney, Australia-based Gus O’Brien Cavanough. The video features a blend of on-site camera work shot by a small crew in each location and photorealistic animations depicting the protagonist’s trippy journey deep into space.

“From the instrumental lines to the vocals section, Sheridan’s “On Myself” exudes emotion. While the rhythmic tempo is dynamic, and perhaps accelerated, the overall climate is smooth, relaxed, mature. The same maturity that is noticed in the feelings that are manifested from the flowing and relaxed bars.”

ON MYSELF EP debuted at #18 on iTunes Top Hip Hop Albums and is available now! Congratulations Sheridan!

For Immediate Release – San Francisco, CA – Independent artist and music producer SHERIDAN (aka Sheridan Carter Crane) has recorded and released over 20 songs in the last two years, setting the stage for his new EP release ON MYSELF that drops worldwide in stores and online June 18, 2021. The ON MYSELF EP also features BDT Don Pablo and Drae V on the powerful and commanding track “The Don” and Anthony Kannon on the heartfelt and introspective “Walk Away.” The first single “Where’s the Ref?” releases online May 28, and SHERIDAN will also broadcast an ON MYSELF VIRTUAL EVENT release show via YouTube on July 2. The virtual event will be a unique visual experience featuring music from the release along with some old favorites and special guests.

Born in Boulder, CO, but raised a few hundred miles north of New York City in Cortland, Upstate New York, SHERIDAN is 22 years old and has spent the last four years writing, recording, and compiling a vast assortment of hip hop and pop musical compositions. All the songs from the ON MYSELF EP were recorded within a year of being written back at his home studio in Cortland, allowing you to hear exactly where SHERIDAN’s mind has been lately and what he has been dealing with throughout this crazy time in the world. He now works from his own home studio in San Francisco where he has recorded hundreds of tracks and continues to develop new material.

Exposed to many styles of music growing up, SHERIDAN is an artist with many life experiences that continue to influence his music. When he first began writing and recording sometime during his junior year of high school in 2016, he never imagined he would be releasing his own original music and songs. His first true passion was basketball, and his heart was set on playing in college and eventually the NBA. “Making music my life wasn’t something I ever planned to do,” says SHERIDAN, “but music was something my life showed me I needed.”

After the tragic loss of his mom in 2019, he decided it was finally time to put out his self-titled Sheridan Carter Crane. With a surplus of tracks to pick from, he chose a select few, including his mom’s favorites that would add to the story he was trying to tell, and filled in the blanks with new ideas inspired by the emotions he felt from her passing. Released on December 23, 2019, Sheridan Carter Crane is available worldwide on all digital platforms and has received incredible response from blogs and reviewers including Upstate Aesthetic and Not Ya Manz.

Over the last few years SHERIDAN has had multiple close friends pass away and has endured an unfortunate amount of heartbreak. In 2020, less than a month after moving to San Francisco to attend the production school Pyramind, he also had all his music equipment stolen in the moving process. Despite these setbacks, he has since rebuilt his home studio and kept his focus on family, honoring his mother, and sharing his music with the world.

SHERIDAN also continues to work on multiple other projects and for the first time ever is releasing tracks with other producers. He is also co-host of a local music podcast run by Upstate Aesthetic. The release of the new ON MYSELF EP marks an exciting milestone for SHERIDAN. Expect much more from this sensational new artist in the months and years to come.

“Overall, I just want to be seen as unapologetically being me. So whether you love it or hate it, shove it or break it…I just hope it made you feel.”  -Sheridan

US Review: CIRCUS MIND “JOY MACHINE”

Click here to listen to Joy Machine!

“Are you ready to have a blast with Circus Mind? Their latest CD Joy Machine will supercharge your summer with funky jams, rocking guitar, and ear worms that will burrow into your mind and refuse to leave. Mark Rechler (vocals & keyboards) not only knows how to write a hook, he surrounds these melodies with a diverse blend of influences, as each track has its own flavor, and yet this album feels cohesive. Rechler’s unique gravelly voice gives the songs additional punch; he sings from the gut, I can imagine him going for broke live pushing the band forward.

The band has brought in a number of guests such as Brandon “Taz” Nierderauer, Nels Cline, and Ivan Neville among others to add a little spice to the mix. And let’s not forget the core band that is phenomenal, great players in their own right. There is not a clunker to be found here, and this CD is pure summertime fun in the sun. Crank this one up, loud!!”

This episode of Big Blend Radio’s “Music Monday” show features Mark Rechler, lead vocalist, songwriter, keyboardist, and band leader of Circus Mind. Based in new York, Circus Mind is entering their twentieth year and have just released their third album JOY MACHINE, a fresh explosion of sounds and flavors of the ’70s rock era with a modern twist. Like a three-ring circus, the band can slide seamlessly between rock, funk, and swampy N’awlins grooves, all while referencing some of the best bands of that era with infectious hooks that get stuck in your ear hole. Songs featured on this interview include the title track “Joy Machine” and “Are You Ready.”

JOY MACHINE was featured on the New Rock Music page of iTunes the day of release! Congratulations Circus Mind!

For Immediate Release – New York, NY – CIRCUS MIND is a New York-based rock outfit and the brainchild of ringleader Mark Rechler. The band is entering their twentieth year and are soon to release their third album JOY MACHINE, a fresh explosion of sounds and flavors of the ’70s rock era with a modern twist. Like a three-ring circus, the band can slide seamlessly between rock, funk, and swampy N’awlins grooves, all while referencing some of the best bands of that era with infectious hooks that get stuck in your ear hole. JOY MACHINE released May 21, 2021, and also features Nels Cline, Marc Ribot, Ivan Neville, Walter Wolfman Washington, Scott Metzger, and more.

Now You’re Ready!!!! Here is the Official Music Video for the first single from the Circus Mind album “Joy Machine”

Directed by George Panagakos of 525 Media

Lyrics by Mark Rechler

Music by Mark Rechler and Chris Crosby

Produced and Engineered by Chris Fasulo

The first JOY MACHINE single “Are You Ready?” features guest guitar phenom Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and had an official music video release. Both the song and video are a funky rock throwback that has roots in P-Funk, Sly Stone, and other ’70s rock and soul vibes, all flavors that CIRCUS MIND wears on its sleeve as a badge of honor, from the writing to the production. The title track “Joy Machine” features Scott Metzger (JRAD) and released as a single on May 7 with a special music video premiere. CIRCUS MIND will then gather together in New Orleans with some amazing NoLa musicians including Big Sam to celebrate the JOY MACHINE album release on May 21 with a raucous party and live performance!

Official Music Video for the title track of the Circus Mind album “Joy Machine”

Directed by George Panagakos Music and Lyrics by Mark Rechler

Produced and Engineered by Chris Fasulo

The production of JOY MACHINE began in August of 2019, but it was the Covid-19 pandemic that really set the stage for the record. While some bands took to the internet airwaves to stream performances, Rechler locked down in the studio. “Suddenly we had a ton of time on our hands and we knew we wanted to come out of this with a full album,” says Mark. “I was a man possessed and started writing like a madman!” The band started working remotely but quickly masked up and got down to business. “In a weird way, the pandemic also opened doors for us to find such amazing guests who were not out on tour and were looking to keep busy.”

The previous CIRCUS MIND release Silver Flower was voted Best Indie Album of 2006 by Newsday and put a modern take on influences such as Traffic, Steely Dan, Little Feat, and Mott the Hoople while mixing in NoLa vibe influences like Dr. John, The Meters, and The Neville Brothers. The last CIRCUS MIND single “Jazzfest Time” was released one year ago as an ode to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and featured Ivan Neville andBig Sam. CIRCUS MIND is quite versatile and has opened for national acts (Toots & The Maytals, The Neville Brothers, The Radiators) and had many notable guests sit in on their recordings and live performances (Soulive, Rebirth Brass Band, Cyril Neville).

CIRCUS MIND’s members are diverse in their influences as well as their playing. Lead vocalist, songwriter, keyboardist, and bandleader Mark Rechler plays in multiple bands (such as Falling Water), and has played, toured, and recorded with members of The Meters, The Neville Brothers, The Radiators, Soulive, The Brandon “Taz” Niederauer Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Ivan Neville, and more. Spending five years in New Orleans studying music and architecture helped influence his style and direction, and he always keeps his focus on the hook to keep his listeners wanting more and humming his tunes all day.

Bassist Chris Crosby has a serious case of spider-fingers and can solo as beautifully as any guitarist. A funkster from a family of highly respected musicians, Chris has also studied with Oteil Burbridge of The Allman Brothers Band and Dead & Company. Currently, he has also been busy playing in his brother’s Jason Crosby Band and with New York rock quartet Feverseed.

Guitarist David Berg is rooted in jazz, reggae, and bluegrass. He has toured with Dark Star Orchestra and has played multiple shows with Garth Hudson (The Band). Dave’s fluid rock style keeps CIRCUS MIND in a constant snake-like flow.

Drummer Dan Roth has been banging on things since he was a tyke, and he can’t seem to stop. He’s addicted to crosswords, motor coordination, and avocados.

With over 30 album credits to his name, percussionist Steve Finkelstein has worked with pop icons from Ray Charles and Mariah Carey as well as jam band giants including members of the Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band, and Tower of Power. Steve is also an original member and current member of the Funk Filharmonik.

Translated: “The musical influences on the work of Circus Mind come from seventies groups like Mott The Hoople, Traffic, Steely Dan and Little Feat. We hear that best in songs like “Errand Boy”, “Three Muses” or the bluesy “Nutbag” on which Marc Ribot, known for his work with Tom Waits and Elvis Costello, plays the guitar. The unsurpassed Wilco guitarist Nels Cline provides guitar work on the quietly performed rock ballad “Longing Song.”

Thanks to all these very diverse collaborations, the third album “Joy Machine” by Mark Rechler and his band Circus Mind has become a unique record in this funk, rock and blues genre.”

-Rootstime

“This vibrantly alive and kickin’ new album opens on the ’70s guitar funk and foot-tappin’ beats of ‘Are You Ready’ and the jangling pop-psych ambiance of the title track ‘Joy Machine,’ and then backs those up with the funky ‘Air Waves,’ the soaring, horn-imbibed ‘Mean Mutha Fucka’ and then we get one of my own personal favorites, the earnest storytelling of ‘Longing Song.’

Released one year ago as an ode to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and featuring both Ivan Neville and Big Sam, the magnificently upbeat and joyous ‘Jazzfest Time’ is brought forth next and that’s backed by the free flowing ‘Errand Boy,’ the rockin’ rhythms of ‘Three Muses,’ with the album rounding out on the foot-tappin’ ‘Nutbag,’ closing on the lofi, almost-pleading, graveled-vocal outreach of ‘Troubled Times.’”

-Exclusive Magazine

“Circus Mind’s third studio release, aptly titled “Joy Machine”, is an exuberating cocktail of jazz influenced classic rock, pimped up with a heavy-duty funk kick. Mostly it’s a good-time romp, a slide back to the past with some righteous gems on disposal. Fashioned by Mark Rechler’s love of lushy textured production and spacy, open-ended songcraft springing through top-notch musicianship, the end result is a consortium of hummable, often trippy sounding songs.”

-Daniel Pavlica, The Rocktologist

“They start the album off with the funky, soulful all-out rock assault of “Are You Ready,” which features a phenomenal solo from guest guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederauer. Circus Mind deliver a southern sounding anthem with the title track “Joy Machine,” featuring some sweet blues licks from the guitar of Scott Metzger, while the smooth, laid-back jam of “Longing Song” highlighted by the addition of Nels Cline floating guitar melody. The band travel down to Bourbon Street with the help of Ivan Neville and Big Sam for “Jazzfest Time,” a tribute to the New Orleans festival. Circus Mind finish up their new album with a return to the funky beats of the instrumental “Nutbag,” which includes some stellar guitar work from Marc Ribot, along the slow blues of the album closer “Troubled Times,” featuring Walter “Wolfman” Washington and Bill Titus.”

-JP’s Music Blog

“I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Joy Machine, from Circus Mind and it’s a funky music party. Opening with Are You Ready?, lead vocalist and keyboard player, Mark Rechler sets the pace backed by Chris Crosby on bass, Dave Berg on guitar, Dane Roth on drums and Steve Finkelstein on percussion and featuring Brandon “Taz” Niederauer with an outrageous guitar solo.”

-Bman’s Blues Report

“This is an album, I can listen to over and over again”!

-Oasis Entertainment Blog

“You might as well sit back and enjoy the deconstruction of everything. Here’s a crew making their third record in 20 years and has the big sounding 70s AOR anthemia rock thing down cold—-and it comes across as a welcome return to when straight ahead rock was the sound of the suburbs. With a guest list of pros that knows what it’s about and what to do, something purely commercial never sounded so right. Well done.”

UK Review: YITA (DEEP WATER) by FELY TCHACO

Click here to watch the YITA Music Video!

Diving deep into themes of empowerment and feminism… This fifth album by Tchaco, San Francisco-based and hailing from Mande-related Gouro people of southern Ivory Coast, has personal and political currency, with tracks telling of Tchaco’s journey as singer, dancer, mother and storyteller – and the humanitarian crisis the world is facing… ‘Yita’ is a heartfelt Gouro-language ode to our commonality, a sentiment similarly expressed on tracks including ‘Tile Tete’, sung in French…there’s palpable joy in the album’s mix of Afrobeat, Afro-pop and electronics…”

Songlines

-Alan Tigay, World Listening Post

As Fely explains, “The song YITA was written after my 2016 humanitarian trip to Greece in support of volunteers
helping the Syrian refugees camp in Greece. As well as crisis surrounding the migrants in the Mediterranean seas,
YITA recalls a childhood memory where my grandmother used to tell us that some of our forefathers
had gone into deep water never to return.

They did not know what had happened to them. Thinking about the transatlantic slave trade,  the world crisis in human trafficking and police brutality, this is a way for me to pay tribute for those who have lost their lives during the different voyages.

YITA not only mourns the lives of the ones we lost, but also celebrates immigrants all over the world.”

YITA is performed in Gouro and was filmed by highly-respected filmmaker, Romeo Carey on location at Beverly Hills College, Malibu Beach with special effects by Romeo Carey and was directed by Fely Tchaco.

YITA includes footage of refugees from Open Arms Organization based in Madrid Spain.

A percentage of proceeds from YITA download sales goes to Open Arms charity: https://www.openarms.es/en 2021

Congratulations to Fely Tchaco for the ‘New and Notable’ featured listing of her new album “YITA (Deep Water)” on Bandcamp!

Yita is not only an outstanding album but also an inspired map of space, time and sound.”

-Alan Tigay, World Listening Post

Fely Tchaco is the total package. With a powerful persona and a positive aura, she is a dynamic performer and dancer as well as specializing in rhythms of the West African forest region – such as Gbegbe, Gaou Alloukou and Zaouli, et al.

This quite mesmerizing new album opens on the rhythmic drum mastery of both ‘Ato Lagoh’ and ‘Cawe Yoko’ and follows them seamlessly with the lusciously Latin-flavored ‘Blamer Les Autres’ and the electronica-inspired beats of ‘Djebi Dje,’ and then we get one of my own personal favorites here, the sweepingly ambient ‘Do Afe.’

Next up are more foot-tappin’ beats within ‘Zaouli’ which is backed by the highly spirited ‘Zante,’ which are in turn followed by the quietly moving title track ‘Yita,’ the percussion-imbued ‘It’s Never Too Late,’ with the album rounding out on the light and breezy, Summer’s day, top down drive of ‘Tile Tete,’ closing on the joyous tones of ‘Kubeli.’

-Russell Trunk’s Exclusive Magazine

Yita (Deep Water) is the superb fifth album from elegant Ivorian artist Fely Tchaco. She is a fascinating, multifaceted artist. She composes and writes her own material, conceived the album artwork and created her fashion design, style and accessories. Fely Tchaco’s music is multidimensional. She put together a captivating mix of Ivorian roots, such as traditional rhythms of the West African forest region, such as gbegbe, gahu, alluku, and the zauli. Additionally, she added a wonderful set of styles such as Afrobeat, Afropop, rock, and electronic music. Fely Tchaco sings in many different languages, including English and French as well as in the languages she grew up speaking, such as Guro, Bete, and Dyula.”

-Angel Romero, WorldMusicCentral.org

Congratulations to Fely Tchaco also for the featured listing of her new album “YITA (Deep Water)” on the iTunes Worldwide pre-order page!

Discover the Singular Voice of Ivorian Singer-Songwriter FELY TCHACO on Her New Album YITA (DEEP WATER)

For Immediate Release – San Francisco, CA – FELY TCHACO might be one of the Bay Area’s best-kept musical secrets, but not for much longer. Her highly anticipated new album YITA (DEEP WATER), originally scheduled for release last spring but postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, is now set for release on March 8, 2021, to coincide with International Women’s Day.

YITA (DEEP WATER) marks the fifth full-length album from FELY TCHACO on which she explores themes of migration, human trafficking, and calls for social justice and the end of police brutality against civilians. The title track “Yita” was inspired by her 2016 humanitarian trip to bear witness to Syrian refugee camps in Greece, and the album is dedicated to African and Middle Eastern migrants who lost their lives crossing the Mediterranean Sea. YITA (DEEP WATER) was conceived as a tribute to migrants seeking better lives all over the word, but the album is not just a solemn remembrance; it is also a positive, inclusive celebration of cultural diversity and black joy, where FELY TCHACO offers an uplifting vision of immigrant triumph and African excellence.

An immigrant who faced tremendous challenges herself, FELY TCHACO was born and raised in the West African nation of Cote d’Ivoire, where she released two albums to critical acclaim in the 1990s. She now resides in San Francisco, where she continues to refine her sound and vision. Since 2004, FELY TCHACO has released two more albums and an EP, racking up more accolades on this side of the Atlantic including an Independent Music Award for “Best Song” in the World Beat category, and a “Just Plain Folks Music Award.”

YITA (DEEP WATER) is an album firmly rooted in tradition, but cosmopolitan in composition and outlook. FELY TCHACO’s unflinching lyrics are inspired by current events, and always grounded in her own life experiences. FELY TCHACO sings in many different languages: English and French as well as in the languages she grew up speaking, such as Gouro, Bete, and Dioula. A dancer as well as a musician, FELY TCHACO specializes in the traditional rhythms of the West African forest region, such as gbegbe, gahou, alloukou, and the zaouli – a mask dance from her own Gouro people that has been inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2017. The track “Zaouli” is a celebration of this very special mask dance.

FELY TCHACO’s commitment to Ivorian music, dance, and traditions led her to found the Pan African Arts Academy in San Francisco, with a mission to teach arts and crafts originating in Africa and the African diaspora based on a spirit of cultural diversity, dynamic growth, and sustainability. FELY TCHACO has deliberately chosen to release YITA (DEEP WATER) on International Women’s Day 2021, whose theme this year is #ChooseAChallenge.

“I am so grateful to be able to represent my culture as a Gouro woman, because there are not many of us. It is mostly men that are known in the crafts, arts and dance. I hope that I can add to that by celebrating not only the Gouro women but to celebrate the entire women all over the world who have contributed so much in art and music.”  -FELY TCHACO

Well done.”

AVAILABLE NOW! – Bay Area Rock Songstress KARNEY Releases a Cover of the Neil Young Classic “HEART OF GOLD”

For Immediate Release – San Francisco, CA – Anna Karney has been making great music for many years, and now with her San Francisco-based band KARNEY has released a cover of the Neil Young classic “HEART OF GOLD” following the release of her personal and heartfelt original single “Be Together” from earlier this year. Karney has performed across the country and released several singles, EPs, and albums. Songs from her last release Better received stellar airplay on Triple-A and Americana radio stations, including the title track and her powerful cover of “Ramble On,” one of KARNEY’s favorite Led Zeppelin songs.

The KARNEY arrangement of “HEART OF GOLD” features guest drummer Jim Bogios (Counting Crows, Sheryl Crow), and was the band’s first in-studio recording since Covid. Anna Karney chose this piece for a few different reasons, first of which is that Neil Young is one of her musical heroes. His relentless expression of truth and his brilliance as a singer-songwriter are a major influence in her own music. “It is important to keep his music alive in our national conversation,” says Anna. “In addition, given the rise of racism, gun violence, and division in our country, I think searching for a ‘heart of gold’ is so important in promoting a movement towards a more forgiving, kind, and respectful society. It is a desperately needed message.”

Keeping her mind on social justice and positive messages, Anna Karney’s lyrical content offers a sardonic and sometimes straightforward approach to many of the issues facing people today. Channeling her loneliness, she penned her first love song inspired by all the dear friends she has missed for the past year. All KARNEY really wants is to reunite and to finally “Be Together” with those she loves.

To create the “Be Together” single, KARNEY band musicians worked from individual studios to assemble their parts and build the track. Singer/guitarist Anna Karney, bassist Kevin White (The Chuck Prophet Band), and guitarist James DePrato (The Chuck Prophet Band) all recorded tracks at their own home studios. Drummer Jeff Herrera created rough drum parts in his rehearsal studio and sent them to trumpet player Bill Ortiz (Santana, Tony Toni Tone), who then recreated them digitally. All the tracks were then sent to producer/mixer Michael Rosen, who finished the mix at his East Bay Recorders studio. Even though the single is titled “Be Together,” the musicians never were. Such has been the reality during this past year, but the band is looking forward to reuniting soon after vaccinations, with each other and most of all their fans.

Before the release of the Better EP in 2020, KARNEY released her previous album of original songs titled No Mercy in 2018, which received broad national radio airplay on Triple-A and Americana radio stations, and internationally as well. On that album as well as on previous releases, KARNEY has worked with producers and artists in the SF Bay Area such as Producer/engineer Mark Pistel (Michael Franti, Grace Jones, Chuck Prophet), Producer/Engineer Michael Rosen (Rancid, Tesla, Smashmouth, Santana, and Papa Roach), and Adam Munoz (Herbie Hancock, Dave Mathews, Branford Marsalis, Joshua Bell, Chester Thompson, and Lyle Lovett).

Anna Karney’s musical influences include Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Patti Smith, John Lennon, Sheryl Crow, Chrissie Hynde, and Joni Mitchell. As an arranger, pianist, and guitarist, she has worked with artists such as George Clinton, Linda Perry, and Dennis Bovell. Anna Karney has had a diverse musical career, having spent many years composing music for games such as Star Wars Galaxies, Monkey Island IV, Armed and Dangerous, several SimCity titles, Metal Dungeon, Death Jr., and many more.
