“Revolushn are an exceptional band of musicians who have come together to make a diverse, and quite different album of original and unique songs. Its Progressive, strange, quirky and out there with the originality of Gong, a bit of Floyd /Devo and with a kicking punk attitude. I for one would love to hear these songs live, I’m sure it would a vision of uniqueness and pure feast for the brain. Very Different very Strong and Weirdly Dangerous.”

AVAILABLE NOW! ~ DJ and Producer CONVERSE BASIN Unveils a New Side of His Musical Personality with His New DUALITY EP

For Immediate Release – Los Angeles, CA – CONVERSE BASIN is the moniker of California-based DJ and producer James Converse. CONVERSE BASIN sings, plays guitar, and has been a house DJ for 20 years, drawing from a wide variety of influences to fuse his passions for dance, techno, electronic, and indie music. A pandemic hobby that turned into a way of life, CONVERSE BASIN began releasing his own original music as a series of singles in 2022. A slight departure from the more chill vibes found on those songs, CONVERSE BASIN has compiled a set of darker, more danceable tracks for the DJs with his new DUALITY EP set for release September 30, 2022!

CONVERSE BASIN’s music uses many organic sounds, but he also uses human sounds which he then converts to synthesizers, resulting in a very human-like and familiar synth sound. The DUALITY EP is a heartfelt and personal release for CONVERSE BASIN. Musically it tells the story of a person who has trauma, goes out to fix it, takes it too far and ends up trying to sleep it off, but can’t…a relatable description of post-pandemic life.

Mastered by Lucas Michaelski from Lumic Studios in Eastern Europe, the DUALITY EP is more influenced by indie and techno than chill electronic. Mostly instrumentals, the EP features guest vocals from Kat Sweitz on the track “Rude Awakening,” with her deep and edgy voice giving a unique Fiona Apple-esque flavor to the music. CONVERSE BASIN is also soon to release another collaboration with Kat Sweitz on the dubstep track “Siren,” which will also have an official music video release.

CONVERSE BASIN loves the way dance music makes him feel. He makes tracks for fun, to express himself, and just hopes that it helps him meet interesting people who share the same passions as he begins to travel his musical journey. Now a full-time husband and father of three, CONVERSE BASIN has been amassing his vinyl collection since working at a record store in Rohnert Park in the early 2000s. He DJ’d in Boulder and San Francisco in his early twenties, burgeoning his love for music and traditional media. By 2020 he converted his vinyl collection to digital, went to an online school for music production, and began to learn guitar, taking on influences as varied as The Head and The Heart, Jose Gonzalez, Passion Pit, MGMT, and Miike Snow, to Paul Oakenfold, Sasha & John Digweed, Lane8, Jerro, Yotto, Sultan & Shepard, Shallou, and Attom.

Following the release of the DUALITY EP, CONVERSE BASIN plans to also release a full-length album featuring a more chill collection of music before the year is through. He will be doing a pop-up DJ series out of some national parks in late September and early October which will then be edited down and put on YouTube.

His namesake Converse Basin used to be the largest grove of redwoods in the world, but the lumber companies cut them all down, leaving just one. The story of Converse Basin is a story of how nature and civilization collide, usually leaving nature to lose, but mother nature sometimes fights back. CONVERSE BASIN utilizes a similar juxtaposition in his art to express the clash of nature and civilization.

The DUALITY EP is a featured release on the iTunes electronic pre-order page!

AVAILABLE NOW! ~ RZN8R Presents the Second of His Two-Part “CLEARING THE SLATE” Album Series WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE!

Click Here to Listen to WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE!

Click Here to Listen to CLOSING THE GOLDEN GATE!

For Immediate Release – New York, NY – RZN8R (pronounced “resonator”) is the moniker of Oakland-raised, Brooklyn-based producer and singer Derek Buckwalter. RZN8R draws from a wide array of influences, fusing his passions for singing, beats, and new thought spirituality to craft lush, deep, and hypnotic grooves. Set for release September 30, his new album WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE is the second of the two-part RZN8R “CLEARING THE SLATE” series, following the release of his debut album Closing The Golden Gate in July of 2022.

As an analog to the chill energy found on Closing the Golden Gate, with WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE RZN8R presents a fun and upbeat party album featuring Isaiah Mostafa (who recently helped produce the song “Hold the Line” for Pixar’s short film Twenty Something), JAYEM, Idea Unsound, Cozzee, and Zyme (who has toured with Lil Wayne, French Montana, Too Short, Pitbull, E40, and more, and is played on Top 40 radio stations worldwide). The cover art for both albums was designed by Brazilian-American artist Paula Sefer, who was a designer for Katy Perry. SF Weekly says RZN8R’s music “leaves the listener feeling invigorated and inspired,” while DoTheBay says, “the expressive electronic beats and hair-raising synths pulsing from RZN8R strike a spiritual nerve.”

Closing The Golden Gateis a collection of future soul tracks with influences of Motown, boom bap hip hop, dance pop, and jazz. A heartfelt and personal piece of work, the album series is about RZN8R’s departure from the San Francisco Bay Area after 27 years to move to Brooklyn. His girlfriend said, “if you move here, we’ll get a spot together in Bushwick and you’ll get a studio room.” An opportunity to good to resist, RZN8R constructed an environment where he could create comfortably with stage lights, lasers, galaxy lights, and a fog machine. All the material for the album series was recorded in his San Francisco apartment but mixed in his new studio room in Bushwick. RZN8R had a hard time in California finishing the albums, but once he moved to New York, embodied “energy code” work, and stopped drinking (no alcohol for one year now), he had the vision and clarity of mind to complete the project.

Closing The Golden Gate was a collaborative effort, featuring Kaeli Earle on the tracks “That’s On You” and “Which Way Is Up,” Idea Unsound (aka Kris Grant) on the track “Aphrodite in Chains,” a freestyle from rapper Dakota on the track “The Window,” and even touring comedian Xander Beltran on the tracks “What’s Good” and “Thought of It.” For the album series, RZN8R worked with mixing engineer Michael Morrell at his studio apartment in Brooklyn where he has tons of outboard gear. Morrell is a longtime collaborator of super producer Sauce Samurai, who has produced for the likes of Travis Scott, Asap Rocky and Trippie Red. RZN8R also worked with mastering engineer Rossylo of the studio OTW in Fremont, CA, that has worked with Bay Area legends including G-Eazy, Mistah Fab and Capolow.

As an added musical flourish, RZN8R added layers of West African percussion and other influences to the “CLEARING THE SLATE” album series. In the 80s his mother went to the Ivory Coast and Ghana where she studied alternative medicine and health. She brought back boxes of drums that can now be heard throughout the albums. Another percussion sound heard throughout is an alternative shaker made from Puma nails, a gift his father got for him in Peru.

RZN8R recently DJ’d his first New York set at the annual Zaneapalooza cosmic rodeo with Lolo Mayhew, and has played many venues in the Bay Area including 1015 Folsom, Mezzanine, Neck of the Woods, Brick & Mortar, Bottom of the Hill, The Knockout, PianoFight, Warehouse 416, Madrone Art Bar, 20 Mission, and events including Noise Pop, Sofar Sounds, Oakland Drops Beats, Now Music SF, and GlowCon, as well as SXSW in Austin. He has opened for artists including A-Trak, Chromeo, Duckwrth, Martin Luther, ATTLAS, ARMNHMR, Anamanaguchi, Monster Rally, TV Girl, and Krystyn Pixton.

With a sound will make you go “oooh,” RZN8R represents the culmination of Derek Buckwalter’s experiences with singing and music production, an outlet for his desire to seek out ways to make electronic music sound more grounded. With his new releases Closing The Golden Gate and Water Under The Bridge, RZN8R is ready now to take on the Big Apple!

“Opening on the jazzled, stuttered rhythms and spoken word of Music to Make You Go Oooh – Intro, that is seamlessly followed by the smooth R&B, finger-snapping grooves of That’s on You (which features bassist Kaeli Earle), then comes the synth-tastic Aphrodite in Chains (which features Idea Unsound aka Kris Grant) – Interlude and the free flowing hipsway of What’s Good (featuring touring comedian Xander Beltran).

Up next on the vibrantly exciting new album is the lushly orchestrated The Window (which comes complete with a freestyle from rapper Dakota) – Interlude, which is itself backed by the heartfelt Thought of It (once again featuring comedian Xander Beltran), the new collection coming to a close on the languishing Which Way Is Up (again featuring bassist Kaeli Earle).”

Germany Review: MARK DUDA Charts an Exciting New Path with His Transformative Debut Album BODEGA FLOWERS!

Click Here to Listen to BODEGA FLOWERS!

Translated: “There is something for everyone to hear on the album “Bodega Flowers”, this handsome solo debut album by Mark Duda. They are all songs in which Mark Duda passionately poured his heart and soul. Sometimes when listening to it, nostalgic memories arise of bands like ‘The Ramones’, ‘The Rolling Stones’ or of psychedelic seventies rock groups like ‘Genesis’ or ‘Rainbow’. Mark Duda may still be a completely unknown artist to many, but this singer-songwriter and guitarist from New York City has built a remarkable history in the world of the American punk and rock scene. On this record he brings an extensive mix of all the musical influences he has sniffed in the New York music scene over the years. In eleven self-written compositions, he provides an overview of all kinds of strange figures, experiences and boastfulness that he has seen crop up in his life over the past decades.”

“This episode of Big Blend Radio’s Music Monday Show features NYC songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist Mark Duda who discusses his music career and new album Bodega Flowers.

Featuring Kasim Sulton (Todd Rundgren & Utopia), Thommy Price (Joan Jett, Billy Idol), Arno Hecht (Dion, Rolling Stones) and others, Bodega Flowers is an emotional journey packed with characters, experiences, and swagger straight from Manhattan’s lower east side. “New York storyteller Mark Duda is re-teaching the metropolis his rock ‘n’ roll. Because the artist, known as the singer of THE HANDFUL and MAD CITY ROCKERS, brings a breath of fresh air to the rock’n’roll circus. Together with bassist Kasim Sulton (Todd Rundgren & Utopia), drummer Thommy Price (Joan Jett, Billy Idol) and saxophonist Arno Hecht (Dion, ROLLING STONES), he lives his influences from Buddy Holly, Lou Reed, David Bowie and Willie Nile in a sound somewhere between classic old-school rock and 70s rock in contemporary New York.”

-Cult Compass (SaitenCult)

“Many styles of rock ‘n’ roll merge on the album. The great thing about it is a production that absolutely nails it. Without frills and forward-looking, exactly what is important is done here. All the influences of the musicians and bands mentioned are reflected in the songs, but it never sounds copied or imitated; rather independent, fresh and honest, absolutely classic Rock’n’Roll.”

Translated:Bodega Flowers by Mark Duda is full of great catchy danceable uptempo songs, which just sound good and I can highly recommend this album to every lover of the better pop!”

-Carry Munter, New Underground Music

Bodega Flowers opens on rambunctiously fantastic Ambulance Song and the studiously-crafted rock within the titular Bodega Flowers and they are followed by the atmospherically-charged rocker Astroland, the mid-tempo, low key ebb of Avenue A is Dead and then comes the Springsteen-esque Hush Money.

Next up is the aching balladry yearn of Don’t Wanna Be Right and the all-out R n’ R of Black Eyed Susan and then they are in turn backed seamlessly by the foot-tapping rhythms within the triumphant Wednesday, the old school rock of My Stash, the album rounding out with the ’80s-imbibed There Goes the Band, coming to a close with the surf-rock-embued Dead Again.”

-Exclusive Magazine

“A whole bouquet of 70s flavors are blooming in this bunch of flowers!”

CIRCUS MIND Busts Out a Hot and Funky Voting Rights Anthem with their New Single “VOTE”!

For Immediate Release – New York, NY – CIRCUS MIND is a New York-based rock outfit and the brainchild of singer/songwriter and keyboardist Mark Rechler. Fresh off the heels of their recently released Bioluminate EP and their full-length album Joy Machine (2021), CIRCUS MIND busts out a hot and funky voting rights anthem with their new single “VOTE”! Set for release October 7, 2022, the track is equal parts Sly Stone, P-Funk, Staple Singers, and Schoolhouse Rock. Featured guests include Mat Godfrey and Matty Fox (members of The Brandon “Taz” Niederauer Band that Rechler played in for three years), along with Nth Power dynamo Nikki Cassarino and his wife Erin Cassarino adding to the powerful vocals found on the song.

Rechler will use the track to raise money for the voting rights organization HeadCount through a fundraiser that will last for ten days upon the “VOTE” single’s October 7 release. His previous fundraiser raised $10K for The New Orlean Musicians Clinic and he has supported other charities close to his heart.

“I had no intention of writing a song about voting,” said Rechler, “but the muses had different plans. The song literally got written in about two hours, lyrics and music. I stopped a few times to ask myself, ‘Am I writing a voting song right now?’ but I figured I would just let it come out, since the music was so good, and I could always rewrite the lyrics. But it seemed just the right amount of fun, funky, cool, and relevant, that I knew it was gonna work.”

CIRCUS MIND is a camouflaged cephalopod that can change colors, moods, and styles in an instant, swimming from jazzy groove rock to funky reggae roots with ease. The band is about to celebrate its 20th year and recently unveiled their fourth release Bioluminateon June 17, 2022. Bioluminate continues to capture the CIRCUS MIND spirit as they weave through past, present, and funky future.

The first Bioluminate single “Baby Come Back Down” (featuring NoLa guitarist Marc Paradis of Johnny Sketch and The Dirty Notes) has a funky driving Caribbean back beat mixed with rock and soul vibes and delicious synthesizer work. Opening track and second official single “West End Road” feels like you’re in the gospel tent at Jazzfest while mixin’ in some swampy rock reminiscent of Little Feat, Taj Mahal and The Radiators. Special guest Nels Cline of Wilco shines on the standout track “Miss Fortune” a slower paced beauty, while special guests Matty Fox and Matt Godfrey from the Brandon “Taz” Niederauer Band bring the album full circle on the final track “Vampire Blues.” Longtime bassist Chris Crosby, whopassed during the recording of the album, appears on four of the tracks.

Their previous release Joy Machinefeatured Big Sam, Marc Ribot, Ivan Neville, Walter Wolfman Washington, Scott Metzger, and more. An eclectic collection of ’70s rock and funk with modern takes on N’awlins swamp rock mixed with Beatles pop, the first Joy Machine single “Are You Ready?” featured guest guitar phenom Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, and its music video was well received by critics and fans alike.

Earlier their release “Silver Flower” was voted one of the Best Indie Albums of 2006 by Newsday and put a modern take on influences such as Traffic, Steely Dan, Little Feat, and Mott the Hoople while mixing in NoLa vibe influences like Dr. John, The Meters and The Neville Brothers. The CIRCUS MIND single “Jazzfest Time” was released as an ode to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. CIRCUS MIND has opened for national acts (Toots & The Maytals, The Neville Brothers, The Radiators) and had many notable guests sit in on their recordings and live performances (Soulive, Rebirth Brass Band, Cyril Neville).

CIRCUS MIND’s members are diverse in their influences and playing styles. Lead vocalist, songwriter and keyboardist Mark Rechler performs with multiple projects and has played, toured, and recorded with members of The Meters, The Neville Brothers, The Radiators, Soulive, The Brandon “Taz” Niederauer Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Ivan Neville, and more. Spending five years in New Orleans studying music, art, & architecture helped influence his style and direction, and he always keeps his listeners salivating and wanting more.

Guitarist Jaime Scott has toured the world as a guitarist and engineer, with renowned ensemble John Lurie and the Lounge Lizards. In doing so he followed the lineage of the legendary and influential Lounge Lizard’s guitarists who came before him. “Baby Come Back Down” also features late and long-time CIRCUS MIND bassist Chris Crosby, who had studied with Oteil Burbridge of The Allman Brothers Band and Dead & Co.

The band’s rhythm section features drummer Dan Roth, a driving force of funky world influences and percussionist Steve Finkelstein, who has worked recorded and performed with pop icons from Ray Charles as well as jam band giants including members of the Dead, Allman’s, and Neville’s, and Tower of Power. Steve is also a founding member of the Funk Filharmonik.

New Member Saxophonist Michael Amendola holds a BA in Arranging from The Berklee College of Music. Credits include touring, film scores, jingles, and Broadway shows. Michael was a member of The Tony Trischka Band for 7 years, producing 2 recordings on Rounder Records and as a leader, released the jazz recording “Big Sunflower” on CDC Records. Also joining the party is Leandro Da Silva, a multi-faceted bassist from São Paulo, Brazil who brings elements of Samba and Funk that can be heard in his diverse playing style.

Translated: “With Bioluminate , Circus Mind presents five stylistically and rhythmically differentiated tracks, each with its own luminescent ability. West End Road brings all the gospel/jazz/funk/blues dynamics , but it’s with Darwin’s Sister that the band shows how to make southern rock intense and with personality. The remaining three tracks end up confirming how Circus Mind can change from a jazz groove rock for a funk with roots in reggae, or even for a blues, without any kind of problem. To help this delirious demonstration of devilish rhythms bewitched by atmospheres of synthesizers, wind instruments and other paraphernalia, the quartet led by Mark Rechler appears accompanied by nine guests.”

-Via Nocturna

Translated: “With well-constructed songs as a basis and a cartload of carefully placed musical details, this has again become a fine record. Festive for those who are busy with other things and damn well made for the concentrated listener.”

-Rockportaal

Translated: “Circus Mind mastermind/singer/keyboardist Mark Rechler has invited a number of guests including Matty Fox, Matt Godfrey, Marc Paradis (KING FROG) and Nels Cline (WILCO). Their lively rock is swamp rock, funk, soul, jazz and reggae at the same time, and has gospel and Caribbean grooves.”

-Michael Haifl, Saiten Kult

““Bioluminate” sports an addictive flow emanating from a band in perfect harmony. The textures and moments may differ, but these guys all seems to be coming from the same place. In doing so, the set serves up brilliant song after brilliant song, starting with the casually resonating funk swagger of “West End Road”, and ending with the soulish “Vampire Blues”.”

“Nocturnal raptures wrap the listener’s ears right from the beginning, once the brass-splashed, boogie-stricken stroll down “West End Road” unhurriedly brings guilty pleasures to neon-lit streets before Mark Rechler’s ivories let his rasp and female choir to the fore only to have the piano shine afresh and find David Berg’s stinging guitar chase the sleaze away.

The energy oozing out of “Bioluminate” is close to nuclear but the songs’ hilarious explosiveness will also turn out to be quite thought-provoking – befitting the wise-men perception of the band’s members. The result of such an approach, of course, is simultaneously alluring, hard-hitting and, well, dangerous.

The twenty-five minutes on offer are truly spine-tingling…with bliss married to wicked grin, “Bioluminate” should become a perfect antidote to our sadness-drenched times.”

Translated: “Circus Mind’s “Biolumintate” is a wonderful CD, containing 5 great songs, which I enjoyed from start to finish and I wholeheartedly recommend this disc to any rock lover!”

-New Underground Music, Carry Munter

“This quite wondrously uplifting, vibrantly joyous new album opens on the fluidly gorgeous, Jagger-imbed vibe of the second official single from the album West End Road, which brings with it an emotive experience akin to a swamp rock, jazzy gospel hoedown ala Little Feat and Taj Mahal and that is followed by the early-Stones-imbibed blues-rock of Darwin’s Sister.

Up next is the uproarious first BIOLUMINATE single Baby Come Back Down (featuring NoLa guitarist Marc Paradis of Johnny Sketch and The Dirty Notes) and which comes complete with a funky driving Caribbean backbeat mixed with rock and soul vibes and delicious synthesizer work and that is in turn backed by the mid-tempo balladry of Miss Fortune (with special guest Nels Cline of Wilco), the album coming to an all too soon close on the Hammond-embedded, smooth blues grooves within Vampire Blues (which also features special guests Matty Fox and Matt Godfrey from the Brandon “Taz” Niederauer Band).”

-Exclusive Magazine

“This album start to finish [features] amazing musicianship and a great mixture of blues, latin and jazz as well as a stellar performances, great songwriting talent and a superb job of recording.  It is great to hear their music again.”

CIRCUS MIND “JOY MACHINE” Featured AGAIN on iTunes One Year After Its Release!

“Several tunes stand out, but you don’t need to go past the first, the retro-funk single “Are You Ready?,” to latch onto the groove that permeates the entire record. You’re good to go from there. The funk is still in place, with a pronounced predilection toward the New Orleans variety very much front and center. Mark Rechler—who is more often than not called the “ringleader” than bandleader (Circus Mind—get it?)— remains the prime motivating force, but he’s sharp and generous enough to delegate. A number of A-list guests bring their own game to the proceedings. All are pros, and together they build an excitement and original vision into each track that’s not always present in the jamband world.”

-Jeff Tamarkin, RELIX

Click here to read the JamBands.com interview with Mark Rechler!

Joy Machine resonates with lead vocalist, songwriter, keyboardist and bandleader Rechler’s adoration of ‘70s classic rock and New Orleans funky grooves. With a who’s who of musicians off the road, Rechler was able to add special guests on all of the album’s hook-filled 10 tracks. That includes Brandon “Taz” Niederauer on opening number, “Are You Ready?” and its roots in P-Funk, Sly Stone and other ’70s rock and soul, Scott Metzger (JRAD) on the title track as well as Nels Cline, Marc Ribot and Walter Wolfman Washington.”

DJ and Producer CONVERSE BASIN Unveils a New Side of His Musical Personality with His New DUALITY EP

The DUALITY EPis a featured release on the iTunes electronic pre-order page!

RZN8R Presents the Second of His Two-Part “CLEARING THE SLATE” Album Series WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE!

Set for release September 30, his new album WATER UNDER THE BRIDGEis the second of the two-part RZN8R “CLEARING THE SLATE” series, following the release of his debut album Closing The Golden Gate in July of 2022.
