For Immediate Release – New York, NY – CIRCUS MIND is a New York-based rock outfit and the brainchild of ringleader Mark Rechler. The band is entering their twentieth year and are soon to release their third album JOY MACHINE, a fresh explosion of sounds and flavors of the ’70s rock era with a modern twist. Like a three-ring circus, the band can slide seamlessly between rock, funk, and swampy N’awlins grooves, all while referencing some of the best bands of that era with infectious hooks that get stuck in your ear hole. JOY MACHINE releases May 21, 2021, and also features Nels Cline, Marc Ribot, Ivan Neville, Walter Wolfman Washington, Scott Metzger, and more.

The first JOY MACHINE single “Are You Ready?” features guest guitar phenom Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and had an official music video release. Both the song and video are a funky rock throwback that has roots in P-Funk, Sly Stone, and other ’70s rock and soul vibes, all flavors that CIRCUS MIND wears on its sleeve as a badge of honor, from the writing to the production. The title track “Joy Machine” features Scott Metzger (JRAD) and releases as a single on May 7 with a special music video premiere. CIRCUS MIND will then gather together in New Orleans with some amazing NoLa musicians including Big Sam to celebrate the JOY MACHINE album release on May 21 with a raucous party and live performance!

Lyrics by Mark Rechler

Music by Mark Rechler and Chris Crosby

Produced and Engineered by Chris Fasulo

The production of JOY MACHINE began in August of 2019, but it was the Covid-19 pandemic that really set the stage for the record. While some bands took to the internet airwaves to stream performances, Rechler locked down in the studio. “Suddenly we had a ton of time on our hands and we knew we wanted to come out of this with a full album,” says Mark. “I was a man possessed and started writing like a madman!” The band started working remotely but quickly masked up and got down to business. “In a weird way, the pandemic also opened doors for us to find such amazing guests who were not out on tour and were looking to keep busy.”

The previous CIRCUS MIND release Silver Flower was voted Best Indie Album of 2006 by Newsday and put a modern take on influences such as Traffic, Steely Dan, Little Feat, and Mott the Hoople while mixing in NoLa vibe influences like Dr. John, The Meters, and The Neville Brothers. The last CIRCUS MIND single “Jazzfest Time” was released one year ago as an ode to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and featured Ivan Neville andBig Sam. CIRCUS MIND is quite versatile and has opened for national acts (Toots & The Maytals, The Neville Brothers, The Radiators) and had many notable guests sit in on their recordings and live performances (Soulive, Rebirth Brass Band, Cyril Neville).

CIRCUS MIND’s members are diverse in their influences as well as their playing. Lead vocalist, songwriter, keyboardist, and bandleader Mark Rechler plays in multiple bands (such as Falling Water), and has played, toured, and recorded with members of The Meters, The Neville Brothers, The Radiators, Soulive, The Brandon “Taz” Niederauer Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Ivan Neville, and more. Spending five years in New Orleans studying music and architecture helped influence his style and direction, and he always keeps his focus on the hook to keep his listeners wanting more and humming his tunes all day.

Bassist Chris Crosby has a serious case of spider-fingers and can solo as beautifully as any guitarist. A funkster from a family of highly respected musicians, Chris has also studied with Oteil Burbridge of The Allman Brothers Band and Dead & Company. Currently, he has also been busy playing in his brother’s Jason Crosby Band and with New York rock quartet Feverseed.

Guitarist David Berg is rooted in jazz, reggae, and bluegrass. He has toured with Dark Star Orchestra and has played multiple shows with Garth Hudson (The Band). Dave’s fluid rock style keeps CIRCUS MIND in a constant snake-like flow.

Drummer Dan Roth has been banging on things since he was a tyke, and he can’t seem to stop. He’s addicted to crosswords, motor coordination, and avocados.

With over 30 album credits to his name, percussionist Steve Finkelstein has worked with pop icons from Ray Charles and Mariah Carey as well as jam band giants including members of the Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band, and Tower of Power. Steve is also an original member and current member of the Funk Filharmonik.

Canada Review: FEVERSEED “LET YOURSELF DOWN”

FEVERSEED Quadrupled Their First Month’s Performance on Spotify and Reach 52,144 Streams for LET YOURSELF DOWN!

Click here to read at DMME.net!

Awesome foursome from New York go for the jugular on first offering that plays to their strength and then some.

-Let It Rock, DMME.net

“This EP comes from a quartet that hails from New York. The blend of sounds here leans toward the hard, rawer rock, but it’s still got a mainstream, almost pop sensibility. This makes me think of both Jane’s Addiction and early Radiohead. It has a slightly less rocking texture to it, with hints of psychedelia and experimental punk. When it powers up to the harder rocking zones that Radiohead element is even more appropriate, but perhaps with some Smashing Pumpkins in the mix. This really shows promise.”

-Gary Hill, Music Street Journal

“Overall, we highly recommend the alt-rock enjoyers to check this EP! Feverseed has a nice way of combining the instruments to provide a well-constructed song that has inviting vibes to it. It’s inevitable to click the play button again. Click here to give it a listen yourself!”

-TheLoopNet.Work

Translated from Dutch: “A good thirteen minutes and barely four songs, Feverseed doesn’t need more to convince us. They open in high speed with the unconditional ‘Let Yourself Down,’ to continue the paved road with ‘Beat Me.’ In pleasant contrast is the light-footed epic and radio-friendly ‘Imprint’ and a Radio Edit of ‘Beat Me,’ which is colored with beautiful guitar riffs.”

-KeysAndChords.com

“Feverseed’s four-song Let Yourself Down EP [encompasses] their down to earth persona in a colossal way, they know that they don’t have anything to prove to anyone. With their eccentric character smudged all over the musical creations they put forth, the difference is in the details with experimental resonance shining luminously.”

-BuzzMusic.com

“Guitar driven, hard hitting power quartet hard rockers delivering the blues rock version of Miles’ elephant funk.”

-Midwest Record Blog

“This new four-song release may be short on songs, but it’s big on riffs, as displayed in the opening hard rock track ‘Let Yourself Down.’ The best friends’ duo of George Panagakos and Chris Crosby are also joined by lead guitarist Wibbus and drummer Drew Bertrand to create a a big, loud sound like ‘Beat Me.’ They add more classic rock melody to their song ‘Imprint,’ before finishing with a radio edit, censored version of their single ‘Beat Me.’”

-JP’s Music Blog

For Immediate Release – New York, NY – FEVERSEED is a New York rock quartet founded by singer/lyricist George Panagakos and bass player Chris Crosby. With their new LET YOURSELF DOWN EP, the band delivers a powerful and soulful debut that is sure to please fans of guitar-driven rock the world over. LET YOURSELF DOWN features three remarkable songs, each with its own personality. The title track is an anthem of loss and redemption, “Beat Me” is a fast and sexy powerhouse and “Imprint” is an intimate epic of love and longing. LET YOURSELF DOWN released worldwide on February 1st, 2021 through Hice Records.

Chris and George, both multi-instrumentalists, have been writing and recording together for years. They’ve explored many musical genres, but the common threads of their memorable and melodic compositions and George’s versatile, unique and powerful voice are always present. In 2019 they decided to quench their thirst for rock and FEVERSEED was born.

The two best friends worked on the material for their new band from November 2019 through August 2020, and by September 2020 they had chosen the three songs that best represented the scope of Feverseed’s sound. With George producing, singing and playing rhythm guitar & piano and Chris playing bass & guitar, they were ready to hit the studio and record their debut. To complete the band’s lineup, they were joined by lead guitarist Wibbus and drummer Drew Bertrand shortly before recording commenced.

LET YOURSELF DOWN was recorded in October 2020 at Suffolk Recording Studios, mixed by Chris Laybourne at Coop Studios and mastered by Roger Lian. The recording and mixing process was very much a group effort. As George puts it, “While I did serve as producer of this EP and had a clear idea of what I wanted these songs to sound like, it was a very collaborative experience. I’m just a piano player who decided to pick up a guitar and rock. Chris and Wibbus are very much responsible for the guitar sound we achieved on the EP. Same goes for the drums. I told Drew what I was looking for, and he chose the right drum kit and set up the microphones perfectly to get me just what I needed. As far as the mix, Chris Laybourne was invaluable at taking my rough mixes and bringing them to life so beautifully, achieving the sound for these songs that I had envisioned from the very beginning.”

The new FEVERSEED debut LET YOURSELF DOWN EP released worldwide on February 1st, 2021 through Hice Records. The band is currently preparing a North American tour in support of their debut release when live performance restrictions are lifted.

For Immediate Release – New York, NY – CIRCUS MIND is a New York-based rock outfit and the brainchild of ringleader Mark Rechler. The band is entering their twentieth year and are soon to release their third album JOY MACHINE, a delightful mashup of the retro sounds of ’70s rock and funk with N’awlins swamp rock mixed with late-Beatles pop. The first JOY MACHINE single “ARE YOU READY?” features guest guitar phenom Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and will release online February 26 ahead of an official video release and Fat Friday Virtual Event on March 5, 2021. “ARE YOU READY?” is a funky rock throwback that has roots in P-Funk, Sly Stone, and other ’70s rock and soul vibes, all flavors that CIRCUS MIND wears on its sleeve as a badge of honor, from the writing to the production. The JOY MACHINE album will release on May 21, 2021, and also features Walter Wolfman Washington, Scott Metzger, Ivan Neville, Big Sam, Marc Ribot, and more special guests.

CIRCUS MIND has many faces, and the band is able to daringly swing from jazzy grooves to reggae roots then shoot out of a canon into rock without missing a beat. Their last release “Silver Flower” was voted Best Indie Album of 2006 by Newsday and put a modern take on influences such as Traffic, Steely Dan, Little Feat, and Mott the Hoople while mixing in NoLa vibe influences like Dr. John, The Meters and The Neville Brothers. The last CIRCUS MIND single “Jazzfest Time” was released one year ago as an ode to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Spending five years in New Orleans studying music and architecture helped influence his style and direction, and he always keeps his focus on the hook to keep his listeners salivating and wanting more.

Bassist Chris Crosby has a serious case of spider-fingers and can solo as beautifully as any guitarist. A funkster from a family of highly respected musicians, Chris has also studied with Oteil Burbridge of The Allman Brothers Band and The Dead. Currently, he has also been busy playing in his brother’s Jason Crosby Band and New York rock quartet Feverseed.

With over 30 album credits to his name, percussionist Steve Finkelstein has worked with pop icons from Ray Charles and Mariah Carey as well as jam band giants including members of the Dead, Allman’s, and Neville’s, and Tower of Power. Steve is also an original member and current member of the Funk Filharmonik.

The CIRCUS MIND single “ARE YOU READY?” will release online February 26, ahead of an official video release and Fat Friday Virtual Event on March 5, and the JOY MACHINE album release on May 21, 2021.

Track-by-Track Review: FEVERSEED “LET YOURSELF DOWN”
