Congratulations to reggae legends The Royal Family of Reggae Morgan Heritage for winning their first Grammy for their album “Strictly Roots,” which is available through IDC’s physical distribution catalog.

IDC has been excited to have “Strictly Roots” in our catalog since its release and always knew it would be a winner. This tenth release from the Morgan Heritage family, which includes Peetah (vocals), Una (keyboard/vocals), Gramps (keyboard/vocals), Lukes (rhythm guitar) and Mojo (percussion/vocals), is not, as the title implies, an homage to Roots Reggae music, but a potpourri of different styles, clearly aimed at a mainstream audience.

This 2015 release features an array of 13 memorable tracks fusing both reggae and dancehall, such as the single “Perform and Done,” “Child Of JAH” featuring Chronixx, “Put it On Me,” and “So Amazing” featuring J Boog, Jemere Morgan, & award winning drummer Gil Sharone. The album also features “Wanna Be Loved” featuring Eric Rachmany of Rebelution. “Strictly Roots” is the first release on their very own label C.T.B.C. (Cool To Be Conscious) Music Group, marking their first release as truly independent artists, and as such represents a win for all indie labels and artists eager to work outside of the major label system.

IDC was instrumental in booking many in-store performances and retail promotions for the band, and supported the album’s release in many ways. We were blessed to attend a few of the in-store performances, and Morgan Heritage put on a great show for the various retailers and fans that attended these events. Morgan Heritage is a hard working band that performed well over 100 shows last year and they have been able to achieve great progress with their label Cool To Be Conscious Records.

Congratulations to CTBC Records, Mojo, Gramps, Una, Peetah, and Lukes, as well as Wendy Morgan who helped keep the entire project on track. IDC is honored to be a part of this amazing journey!

Marty Dread It Sometimes Rains in Paradise CD

Maui’s Reggae ambassador Marty Dread returns with his 16th studio album It Sometimes Rains in Paradise. This set is packed to the gills with solid production, crafty hooks and strong messages throughout. Marty Dread glides over themes and topics effortlessly as he rides riddims from a wide range of producers including electronic dance producer Gaudi.

Taddy P Gimmie Di Bass CD

Taddy P has emerged as one of the most creative musicians, writers and producers out of

Jamaica. His diverse life experiences manifest themselves in his music, which combines roots reggae riddims and a compelling message with bluesy melodies, rock overdubs and a consistent soulful vibe.

“[Taddy P] is helping to define a progressive new sound for reggae, a style that incorporates outside influences but maintains an authentic Jamaican foundation.” said Tomas Palermo of URB.

Gimme Di Bass, his sophomore album features collaborations with multiple Grammy nominees Maxi Priest and Bunny Rugs of Third World Band fame as well as the only Diamond awarded dancehall artist and two-time Reggae Grammy winner Shaggy.

The album marks a huge step in the career of the multi-talented singer-songwriter. The lyrical focus of the album is to liberate the homophobic and celebrate the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender) experience. The release of this album will hopeful build upon his fan base and get his music heard by more people than ever, especially in his native home of Jamaica.

Dub Caravan Nomadic Fusions CD

Dub Caravan humbly presents his second full-length LP Nomadic Fusions – a nine-track musical journey fusing ethnic sounds with ambient, dub, world beat and a touch of unusual reggae. Mesmerizing beats and percussion combined with deep earthy bass are uniquely layered with exotic instruments played mostly by Dub Caravan himself and guest musician Vladiswar Nadishana, the talented multi-instrumentalist from Siberia who plays on over one hundred world instruments. Another key guest is the French “ethno-dubologist” Jerry Coox who remixes “Oriental Vibes” – a track with tribal-like Middle Eastern percussion, haunting voices and groovy bass. Nomadic Fusions is the ideal album for relaxation, meditation, chilling out as well as for general listening pleasure set in an exotic atmosphere.

George Ludwig Rise Time CD

George Ludwig has roots stretching back to the 80’s DIY scene, touring the U.S. as a bass player. He eventually switched to guitar as a more appropriate instrument for composition. His attraction to atmospheres and analog electronics eventually lead to a love affair with the Roland GR-300, a vintage analog guitar synthesizer coveted for its responsiveness and rich analog tone, as well as the Roland RE-501 tape delay. Rise Time is his first solo release, paying homage to influences ranging from Phillip Glass to Robert Fripp.
