Jemere Morgan’s Debut Album ‘Transition’ Out Today!

The royal family of reggae Morgan Heritage‘s musical legacy lives on by virtue of their body of work, and proudly through the next generation via Gramps Morgan‘s son Jemere Morgan.

The budding star musical career blossomed and matured forefront on a worldwide stage, as fans of the Grammy award-winning band saw Jemere transition in front of their eyes. From a pubescent teen to a young man he remained a frequent fixture on stage with his family, and in the recent years, performing alongside and as a featured act. The latter has manifest and culminated in Jemere Morgan debut album, appropriately titled Transition.

This album, Transition, represents the current phase in my life, transitioning into becoming a man. I’ve been working on this album for the past three years, handpicking each sound down to the melodies of each record. Music and the artist should be one, and if the beat doesn’t connect to me, I’m on to the next track. So, that’s how I picked the tracks for the album. ” explains Jemere of his inaugural album.

To be released under Dada Son Entertainment on January 6th, 2017, Transition was produced by Gramps Morgan and Jemere himself, with productions contributions from Chimney Records, Markus Records, Rellee Hayden, Nebilus Records, Notis Records among a host of other notable producers, has 17 tracks and features collaborations with Jo Mersa Marley, Agent Sasco, J Boog, Stonebwoy, Toian and Gramps Morgan. “I consider everyone featured on my album family. My uncle Peetah also helped with the co-writing process on my album.“. As the eyes and ears of the world await the album, Jemere recognizes that he feels a slight encumbrance, “I don’t really feel pressure, but there’s a standard that I have to live by. I’ve been blessed to have family and a team around me to help live up and above those standards.

Along with an upcoming 2017 tour, Jemere will deliver 3 visuals for the album. “I am currently planning to shoot three videos for songs from the album, “Shouldn’t Have” featuring Jo Mersa Marley, “Bang Bang” featuring Toian, and “Try Jah Love” featuring my dad, Gramps Morgan.

Jemere Morgan: “I put out my first album ever. That says a lot for the beginning of any artist’s career. It’s an accomplishment and a learning experience at the same time. This album represents me taking control of my life and turning my dream into a reality. Here you have it“. – Jemere Morgan

Congratulations to reggae legends The Royal Family of Reggae Morgan Heritage for winning their first Grammy for their album “Strictly Roots,” which is available through IDC’s physical distribution catalog.

IDC has been excited to have “Strictly Roots” in our catalog since its release and always knew it would be a winner. This tenth release from the Morgan Heritage family, which includes Peetah (vocals), Una (keyboard/vocals), Gramps (keyboard/vocals), Lukes (rhythm guitar) and Mojo (percussion/vocals), is not, as the title implies, an homage to Roots Reggae music, but a potpourri of different styles, clearly aimed at a mainstream audience.

This 2015 release features an array of 13 memorable tracks fusing both reggae and dancehall, such as the single “Perform and Done,” “Child Of JAH” featuring Chronixx, “Put it On Me,” and “So Amazing” featuring J Boog, Jemere Morgan, & award winning drummer Gil Sharone. The album also features “Wanna Be Loved” featuring Eric Rachmany of Rebelution. “Strictly Roots” is the first release on their very own label C.T.B.C. (Cool To Be Conscious) Music Group, marking their first release as truly independent artists, and as such represents a win for all indie labels and artists eager to work outside of the major label system.

IDC was instrumental in booking many in-store performances and retail promotions for the band, and supported the album’s release in many ways. We were blessed to attend a few of the in-store performances, and Morgan Heritage put on a great show for the various retailers and fans that attended these events. Morgan Heritage is a hard working band that performed well over 100 shows last year and they have been able to achieve great progress with their label Cool To Be Conscious Records.

Congratulations to CTBC Records, Mojo, Gramps, Una, Peetah, and Lukes, as well as Wendy Morgan who helped keep the entire project on track. IDC is honored to be a part of this amazing journey!

We are both 2nd generation musicians carrying on our father’s legacies. The Catch A Fire tour is a historic moment for both families because as family our bond goes beyond blood, it’s etched into our souls with the fire. We always spoke of the day when Marley and Morgan would tour together sharing the same stage night in and night out. Congratulations To The 2015 NBA Champions Golden State Warriors!

It was a thrilling season capped off by an electrifying Final series. Last night the Golden State Warriors proved why they have been the best team all year by finishing off LeBron James and the Cavaliers in Cleveland. For the first time in 40 years, the team got to raise the Larry O’Brien Trophy high in the air.

The parade on Friday in Downtown Oakland will represent the culmination of an amazing effort. A team many said would not have a chance because “shooters don’t win championships” or “they don’t have that ‘it’ factor”. But all doubts were dispelled last night, and any further criticism is simply chatter.

On behalf of the IDC team, we would like to congratulate the Warriors on their victory. Most of us have been following along all season, and the loyalty exhibited by the entire Golden State fan base has paid off. This is truly a team that unites the Bay Area under a common banner. Regardless of any city affiliation, the blue and yellow can be appreciated and cheered for by all.

To continue to relive the magic of the Warriors’ effort, check out IDC artist’s Morgan Heritage video for their song “We Are Warriors”, set to some of the most thrilling highlights from this Golden State season:
